LGBTQ+ Ally Training: Combating the Politicization of Queer People

With ongoing attacks on queer people including the “Don’t Say Gay” law in Florida and so called “bathroom bill” attempts in previous elections, this training will provide awareness of how to work to build stronger community relationships with and for LGBTQ+ people. This training will provide participants with knowledge of new and emerging aspects of the LGBTQ+ community using the gingerbread person. Using the spectrum of identity – what’s between the ears, between the legs, and in the heart — the goal of the training is to make it easier to become an ally for LGBTQ+ individuals to combat the politicization of queer people.

The speaker for this session is Dr. Todd Felts, APR, an associate professor of journalism in the Reynolds School at UNR.
