Our theme for the 2019 Reno Women’s March was “When women thrive, we all thrive.” Unfortunately, women are not thriving right now. Join us to learn about the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson decision that gutted Roe v. Wade protecting a women’s right to choose. We’ll discuss the implications of that decision here in Nevada and elsewhere, and what you can do.

This November, Nevada voters will be asked to vote on three ballot questions. We will talk about two of those. Question 1 would codify a greatly expanded version of the ERA into our state constitution; this will benefit not only women, but it will guarantee rights regardless of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, ancestry or national origin. We will also discuss Question 2 that would set the state’s minimum wage at $12 per hour, regardless of whether an employee receives health care. The initiative would also allow the Legislature to increase the minimum wage and ensure it never falls below the federal minimum wage.

Our experts will identify the issues, provide some historical and legislative context and give us concrete actions we can all take to help everyone thrive in the Silver State. Although the title of our forum is “What Women Want,” this presentation is for everyone who cares about civil rights and dignity for all.
